Three main sources: FEDER (regional funds), Horizon Europe (cross-border R&D), BPI and national and regional aid.
Schemes covered
FEDER — European Regional Development Fund
- Funding for productive investment, digitalization, energy transition.
- Managed by the regions — co-funding rate up to 50-80% depending on the area.
- Eligibility: SMEs in priority areas — investment projects > €100k.
Horizon Europe — European R&D framework programme
- 2021-2027 budget: €95.5B — the world's largest R&D programme.
- Access via calls for projects — multi-country consortia for most calls.
- EIC Accelerator: up to €2.5M grant + €15M equity for innovative startups.
BPI France & national aid
- Seed loans, innovation loans, i-Lab grants, i-Nov contest.
- BPI innovation aid: up to €600k for collaborative R&D projects.
- Complementary regional aid depending on the territory.
